Our Story
Bon Tamales USA was born from a deep-rooted passion for preserving the time-honored tradition of tamale making. Our journey began in the small kitchens of Ciudad Juárez, where our founder’s abuela taught her the art of crafting tamales by hand. Every step, from grinding the corn for masa to perfecting the rich, flavorful fillings, was done with care, love, and respect for the heritage of Mexican cuisine.
When we moved to Texas, we brought this legacy with us, blending the authentic flavors of Mexico with a bit of Texas spirit. Today, we continue to honor that tradition, using the same recipes passed down through generations, infusing every tamale with the warmth and magic of abuela’s kitchen. Meet The Owner, Alejandro Fogle.
My name is Alejandro Fogle. I am a first-generation Mexican born in El Paso Texas, Houstonian at heart for I was raised here all my life. I am a home cook with a dream, not just a dream, a big dream. I have three blessing in life: Arely Belen, Ana June, my daughters, and my passion for cooking. Turns out I have a knack for it. Yet, of all things I could be offering to Houston gastronomy, which is broad and of great excellence, I have chosen Tamales. I have looked through out Houston hating the fact that I will not find a tamale that is nearly close to my home-made tamales. I have embarked into the laborious maze of tamale making, the Bon Tamales USA making. It is a job of great difficulty if you want them made right. I trust that I have mastered the art and so now I want to share them with you. Now why Bon? Why not?
